One hundred thousand years in the making, the vast Waitomo caves have a profound effect on all those brave enough to enter their magical spaces.

Brave enough, that is, for adventure options like a dramatic 100 metre abseil into Lost World. It takes at least 10 to 15 minutes, straight down. On the other hand, there are guided tours through "The Pink Gumboot", a cave adventure for all the family.

	LOST WORLD TANDEM ABSEIL (100 metres) 4 Hrs: A huge abseil (rappelling) into the Lost World tethered to a guide who abseils alongside and then an ascent of another spectacular cavern route to the surface. A more personal tour.
