naturalist Joseph Banks saw Mt Taranaki from the deck of Captain Cook's 'Endeavour' he
wrote, "Certainly the noblest hill I have ever seen". Some hill!

At 2500 metres the almost perfect volcanic
cone dominates the region with a singular majestic presence.
