- Stewart Island. The five day experience sets out from Riverton, crossing Foveaux
Strait by fishing boat or by plane to land at Mason's Bay, where kiwi's are often seen.
Due to strict protection laws, only twelve people are permitted to visit this sanctuary at
any one time, so it is essential to book well in advance. The walk then crosses Stewart
Island, overnighting at Freshwater Landing before boarding sea kayaks to explore the
sheltered inlets and coves of the island's largest harbour.
- The Waitutu Track: Virgin native forest - wild ocean shores. Thrilling up river
jet boat ride. This four day lowland walk is modelled on the classic New Zealand wlking
experience. Begin and end your Southland trek in the historic surrounds of the stately
Riverton Rock Hotel.
